How to use a past-year calendar

An old calendar answers more than “what day was that date?” Genealogists use weekday context when reading family records and newspaper notices. Businesses check filing dates, pay periods and deadlines. Teachers and students can place a historical event within the rhythm of its year, while families use printable past calendars for anniversary books and memory projects.

Each Old Calendars page separates statutory federal holidays from popular, cultural and religious observances. When a fixed federal holiday landed on a weekend, both its calendar date and the weekday observed by federal employees are shown. Because school districts, states and private employers set their own schedules, always confirm a date with the institution involved when the answer has legal or financial consequences.

Why some years share the same calendar

Two years have matching calendars when they begin on the same weekday and are both common years or both leap years. Each year page lists matching calendars, and our same calendar year finder checks the wider 1900–2100 range. Holiday dates tied to Easter or another lunar calendar can still differ even when the weekday grid is identical.
